New Centrist Federal Party Launches “Road to 250” Campaign to Register with Elections Canada
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | July 14th, 2025
Peterborough, ON — A new political party is emerging in Canada with the goal of rebuilding political common ground. The Modern Commons Party — a grassroots, centrist initiative — has officially launched The Road to 250, a national campaign to collect the 250 declarations of support required to register with Elections Canada.
Born out of Peterborough, Ontario, the party positions itself as a response to growing polarization in Canadian politics.
“We’re building a political home for Canadians who feel politically homeless,” said Interim Leader Jack Henry. “The left and right have their echo chambers. We’re offering an alternative: balance, evidence, and common sense.”
The Road to 250 campaign is running from July to December 2025, with Canadians across the country encouraged to become founding members. Signing is free and does not obligate voters to support the party in future elections.
Interim President Thamer Linklater adds, “This is about building something new. We’re not waiting for better politics — we’re starting it.”
The party is currently engaging with Canadians online and in communities through organic outreach, local events, and media engagement. The goal is to officially register before the end of 2025 and begin fielding candidates in the next federal election.
