A Canada That Works.
For Everyone.
Our Platform for Election 2029
Message from Leadership.
My Fellow Canadians,
I didn’t come into politics through the back door or a political dynasty, I came here from the real world. I’ve built a small business. I’ve worked on the front lines of customer service, where listening, problem-solving, and earning trust aren’t optional… they’re how you survive.
I was raised with the belief that nothing comes for free, that you work hard, you treat people fairly, and you show up for your community. I’ve walked the picket line during the first LCBO strike in Ontario’s history, fighting for fair wages, job security and workers’ rights. I’m also a small business owner, doing my best to balance income with expenses to keep the lights on and a roof over my head. I know what it means to face tough choices, and I know the real challenges, and the real potential, in both our economy and our workforce.
I’ve also learned, through my own life, that hard work alone isn’t always enough when the system isn’t working for everyone. I see that reality every day. As the partner of a disabled, Two-Spirit Indigenous person. I’ve seen the barriers, the broken promises, and the gaps in our systems. I’ve also seen the strength of communities, the determination of small businesses, and the power of people who refuse to be written off. I also know this: when Canadians come together, when we lead with respect and common sense, we can build something better.
That’s why the Modern Commons Party exists. We believe it’s time for practical, bold reforms that build an economy that works, for everyone. Real reconciliation. Real affordability. Real accountability. A Canada where no one gets left behind.
In this election, I’m not promising magic solutions. But I am promising this: I’ll work as hard for this country as Canadians do every single day.
Together, we can build a Canada that works. For everyone.
Sincerely,
Jack C. Henry
Modern Commons Party of Canada
Leader
Candidate Nominee, Peterborough
Wâciye Canada,
I stand before you as someone who understands what it means to face uncertainty and resilience. I’m Nehiyaw from Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, now building a life and a business in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough. I have walked through foster care, homelessness, and mental health challenges and found my voice through poetry, art, and land defence.
When I founded Linklater Administration, it was to empower others, small business owners, non‑profits, researchers, to reclaim their energy, their time, and their purpose. I built a service rooted in care, detail‑driven systems, and compassionate communication, because I believe that a strong economy is one that supports everyone, not just the well‑connected.
As a disabled, Two-Spirit Indigenous person, I’ve seen the barriers in health care, in housing, in the economy, and I’ve seen the strength that comes from building community and demanding better. Those lived experiences are at the heart of how I lead, how I work, and why I believe the Modern Commons Party is so needed right now.
Together with Jack, and with Canadians across this country, we are building something different. Real reconciliation, built with Indigenous leadership and lived experience; an inclusive economy, one that respects diversity, equity, and accessibility; a fairer democracy, powered by transparency and genuine accountability and human rights that never expire, no matter your identity, your ability, or where you call home.
I bring to this role every lesson I’ve learned, about resilience, about community, and about practical change. Let’s work together to build a Canada that truly listens, reflects, and serves. Under our shared leadership, the Modern Commons Party offers a vision rooted in real stories and real results.
Thank you for trusting us. It’s time to build a country that works. For everyone.
Kinanâskomitin,
Thamer R. Linklater
Modern Commons Party of Canada
President
An Economy That Works for Everyone.
-
First Term Promise: We’ll streamline redundant red tape making it easier for entrepreneurs to grow, hire, and thrive. At the same time, we’ll protect workers’ rights and fair competition, ensuring prosperity benefits everyone, not just the biggest players.
We will also cut small business taxes by 2% This will save the average small business owner $2000 per year. That is money that they can invest back into growing their business or into the community through sponsorships and advertisements. This cut will be supported by asking the top earners in our country to pay just 1% more in income taxes.
Why it matters: Small businesses drive job creation and community strength but right now, they face rising costs, outdated regulations, and barriers to growth. It’s time to give them a fair shot.
-
A national investment in skills training for technology, trades, green energy, and accessibility-focused job programs with targeted supports for Indigenous people, people with disabilities, and underrepresented groups.
Why it matters: The world of work is changing. We’ll make sure Canadians aren’t left behind and that no one’s potential is wasted due to systemic barriers.
-
We’ll strengthen domestic manufacturing and food security by supporting Canadian-owned businesses, investing in local supply chains, and reducing reliance on unstable foreign markets.
Why it matters: COVID-19 and global instability have shown us the risks of overdependence on international supply chains. A resilient, self-sufficient economy protects jobs and keeps shelves stocked.
-
We’ll expand the Disability Employment Strategy and offer targeted tax credits to businesses that adopt inclusive hiring practices, making workplaces across Canada accessible and equitable.
Why it matters: Too many Canadians with disabilities face barriers to employment wasting talent and undermining fairness. We believe opportunity should never depend on ability status.
-
We’ll implement pragmatic, job-protecting climate action: investments in clean technology, home energy efficiency programs, and incentives for green industries. We will invest money from a 2 cent per litre flat carbon price just at the gas pump would generate $1.216 billion each year.
Why it matters: Climate action is essential, but it must be practical, protect jobs, and work for all Canadians, not just the wealthy or urban centres.
Real Reform for a Fairer Democracy
-
We’ll empower Canadians to shape the future of our voting system through a diverse, independent Citizens’ Assembly with binding recommendations Parliament must act on.
Why it matters: Voters have lost faith in our electoral system. This process gives power back to the people and ensures meaningful, non-partisan reform.
-
We’ll ban foreign interference, dark money, and untraceable third-party funding in Canadian politics while implementing real-time transparency for donations and lobbying.
Why it matters: Democracy belongs to Canadians not foreign governments, wealthy insiders, or hidden special interests.
-
We’ll expand voting access for Indigenous communities, rural areas, and marginalized populations by modernizing Elections Canada systems, improving outreach, and addressing logistical barriers.
First Term Promise: Of the approximately 635 indigenous reserves in Canada, 273 do not have voting places available in their reserve. Many residents travelled upwards of 6 hours to cast their ballot at their assigned station. The Modern Commons Party will ensure that every single indigenous reserve has at least one voting place for the 2033 general election.
Why it matters: Your voice should never be silenced because of where you live or who you are. We’ll ensure every Canadian can participate fully in our democracy.
-
It’s in the name, House of Commoners or House of Commons, it is for the common people not party elite. We’ll reduce party control by increasing free votes in Parliament and empowering MP’s including our own, to represent their constituents, not just party bosses.
First Term Promise: Modern Commons Party MP’s will be free to bring their constituents' voices to Ottawa and vote as such. Our MP’s will only be accountable to those that elected them, not party whips.
Why it matters: Elected officials should answer to the people who sent them to Ottawa, not backroom strategists.
-
First Term Promise: We’ll create a public, accessible, easy to use, online tool that tracks MPs’ voting records, expenses, and attendance in real time.
The current parliamentary site is difficult to navigate and inaccessible and hard to navigate even for experienced web users. We will fix that to hold our elected officials accountable!
Why it matters: Transparency builds trust. You should know how your MP is showing up for you.
Affordability & Opportunity for All
-
We’ll increase housing accessibility by providing targeted, government-backed mortgage options for first-time homebuyers, allowing the rent families are already paying to count toward their mortgage eligibility, offering subsidized interest rates for those struggling to enter the market, encouraging private lenders to participate in shared-risk programs, and directly participating in building new affordable homes where supply is lacking; all while ensuring fiscal responsibility and protecting community input.
First Term Promise: We will help first-time homebuyers get into their first homes by introducing government-backed mortgage support, allowing current rent payments to count toward mortgage qualification, and investing in the construction of new affordable homes in communities facing critical shortages.
Why it matters: Homeownership shouldn’t be out of reach for those who are responsible and ready. By supporting buyers directly and building homes where needed, we create practical pathways to stability while keeping the housing market healthy, fair, and responsive to local needs.
-
We’ll crack down on price gouging by major national chains by increasing competition by studying the practicability of running a crown controlled grocery store and telecom company and energy company
Fiscal Note: Estimates put buying back controlling shares of Suncorp, Petro-Canada’s parent company, at 35 to 40 billion dollars. With 5 to 10 billion dollars the government could create a more modern energy company not only focused on the energy of today but also the renewable energy of tomorrow.
First Term Promise: Review the feasibility of creating a nationalized grocery chain that sells staples at cost to add competition to the food market.
Why it matters: Canadians shouldn’t have to choose between feeding their families and paying the bills. Fair prices for essential goods are non-negotiable.
-
We’ll balance the transition to clean energy with practical protections to keep energy affordable, reliable, and accessible especially for rural and northern communities.
Why it matters: Canadians need energy that’s affordable today and sustainable tomorrow. We can have both.
-
We’ll invest in reliable transportation options for rural and remote communities, connecting people to jobs, services, and opportunity. We will also work to connect fly in indigenous communities to our vast road network.
Why it matters: No one should be isolated or cut off from opportunity because of where they live.
-
We’ll expand affordable childcare with flexible options that include public and private facilities to keep prices reasonable and meet the needs of working families.
Why it matters: Childcare isn’t a luxury, it’s essential for economic growth, gender equity, and family well-being.
Real Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples
-
Full, transparent implementation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 92 Calls to Action with annual progress reports and independent oversight to ensure accountability.
Why it matters: Reconciliation cannot be symbolic. It must be measurable, transparent, and driven by Indigenous leadership.
-
We’ll expand support for Indigenous-owned businesses, clean energy projects, and land stewardship initiatives ensuring economic growth benefits Indigenous communities.
Why it matters: True reconciliation includes economic justice. When Indigenous communities thrive, all of Canada benefits.
-
First Term Promise: We’ll end boil-water advisories in Indigenous communities once and for all by investing in infrastructure, respecting Indigenous governance, and holding governments accountable for delays.
Why it matters: Today, no community in Canada should lack access to safe drinking water. Period.
-
First Term Promise: We’ll enshrine Indigenous languages, cultural revitalization, and heritage protections in national legislation with dedicated, sustainable funding. We will also provide support to programs to teach indigenous languages both on and off reserves to anyone who wants to learn.
Why it matters: Language and culture are the heart of identity. Protecting them is an essential part of reconciliation.
-
We’ll honour Indigenous self-government agreements and ensure all federal policies uphold treaty rights and respect nation-to-nation relationships.
Why it matters: Indigenous governance is not optional, it is a constitutional and moral obligation.
Human Rights Are Non-Negotiable
-
We’ll strengthen federal protections for 2SLGBTQ+ Canadians, fund access to gender-affirming care, and combat rising hate and discrimination.
Why it matters: Human rights aren’t optional, they’re fundamental. No one should live in fear because of who they are.
-
First Term Promise: We will enshrine every Canadian’s fundamental right to make decisions about their own body free from political interference, discrimination, or fear.
That includes protecting access to safe, legal abortion, gender-affirming care, and reproductive healthcare in all regions of Canada. It also means ensuring that bodily autonomy is respected in all health decisions, regardless of gender identity, ability, or background.
Why it matters: The right to control your own body is a cornerstone of freedom, dignity, and equality. In Canada, that right must never be up for debate it must be protected, period.
-
We’ll enforce pay equity across federally regulated sectors and work with provinces to close the wage gap for women and marginalized groups.
Why it matters: Equal work deserves equal pay, full stop.
-
We’ll strengthen and expand accessibility standards across federal services, transportation, and infrastructure making Canada barrier-free.
Why it matters: A truly inclusive society ensures every person can participate fully and freely.
-
We’ll establish national mental health care standards, expand access to counselling, crisis services, and ensure mental health is treated as essential care not a luxury.
First Term Promise: We will work with provinces to ensure that Canadians can access mental health care with their health cards not their credit cards.
Why it matters: Mental health care is health care. It’s time our system reflected that.
-
We’ll strengthen legal tools to combat online hate, misinformation and extremist threats while protecting freedom of expression for all Canadians.
Why it matters: A safe, respectful society depends on standing up to hate, without compromising our fundamental rights.
Our Approach: How We Lead, How We Work
The Modern Commons Party wasn’t built by career politicians or insiders — it was built by people who’ve lived the challenges facing Canadians firsthand. Small business owners. Frontline workers. Indigenous leaders. Parents. People from all walks of life who believe politics should be about results, not just rhetoric.
We know Canadians are tired — tired of the left-vs-right echo chambers, tired of empty promises, tired of being told to “choose a side” instead of choosing progress. Our approach is different.
In short, our approach is simple: We listen. We work. We deliver.
We bring people together because real progress doesn’t happen in silos. It happens in the commons.
-
We won’t settle for band-aid solutions or political half-measures but we also reject the idea that bold change means abandoning common sense. We’ll deliver practical, ambitious reforms that work in the real world, not just on paper.
-
We believe in meeting people where they are, listening first, and building policy that reflects the diversity of this country. That means respecting Indigenous rights, disability rights, 2SLGBTQ+ rights, and human rights, always.
-
Good ideas don’t belong to one party or ideology. We’ll work with anyone, across party lines, across communities, to get results that improve Canadians’ lives. Politics should serve people, not parties.
-
We believe trust is earned through transparency and action. From tracking MPs’ votes to real-time updates on progress, you’ll know exactly where we stand and what we’re delivering.
-
It’s easy to criticize. It’s harder, but far more valuable, to build. We’re focused on building affordable housing, building an inclusive economy, building respectful partnerships with Indigenous nations, and building a Canada that works, for everyone.
