Purpose
The Modern Commons Party uses social media to inform, engage, and empower Canadians. Our digital platforms provide a space for open dialogue, public feedback, and updates on our policies, candidates, and activities. This policy outlines how our official channels operate, how our representatives engage online, and how we moderate public interaction.
Official Use of Social Media
The Modern Commons Party maintains official accounts on platforms including (but not limited to): X (formerly Twitter), Threads, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn. These accounts are used to:
Share party policies, values, and updates
Highlight the work of our Leader, party officers, and candidates
Engage with Canadians on key issues
Promote local campaigns and events
Provide timely responses to relevant news and current affairs
Authorized Users
The following individuals or groups may post on behalf of the Party or its affiliates:
Party Leader: Shares key policy stances, responds to major events, and communicates directly with Canadians.
Party Officers: May post from their own accounts or through official channels regarding organizational or procedural matters.
Candidates: Are encouraged to maintain active, respectful, and transparent personal or campaign accounts.
Riding Associations & Campaign Teams: May operate local accounts to support outreach and community engagement.
All posts from official party accounts must reflect the values, tone, and policies of the Modern Commons Party.
Values in Practice Online
All party representatives and affiliated accounts are expected to:
Communicate respectfully, even in disagreement
Avoid personal attacks, discriminatory language, or inflammatory content
Disclose when speaking as an individual versus on behalf of the party
Uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and integrity
Never share private or confidential information without consent
Community Engagement & Moderation Guidelines
We welcome diverse perspectives and encourage open discussion. However, we reserve the right to moderate our platforms to maintain respectful, inclusive spaces.
Comments may be removed if they:
Contain hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or other forms of discrimination
Promote violence, harassment, or threats against individuals or groups
Include slander, misinformation, or unfounded conspiracy theories
Spam the platform or derail productive conversation
Include private or personal information of individuals without consent
Accounts may be blocked or restricted if they:
Repeatedly violate our comment policy
Engage in coordinated trolling or harassment
Pose a safety or legal risk to the party, its representatives, or community members
Use fake identities or impersonate others
Persist in engaging in bad-faith or inflammatory behavior despite warnings
We may not provide notice before moderating comments or blocking users. Our goal is to foster thoughtful dialogue, not to censor criticism—but abuse, harassment, and misinformation will not be tolerated.
Disputes and Concerns
If you believe your comment was removed or your account was blocked in error, you may contact the party through our website’s Contact page. We review concerns in good faith and may reinstate access if appropriate.
