Who is the Modern Commons Party?
A New Voice for Canadians. Grounded in Community. Driven by Common Sense.
The Modern Commons Party was founded in the heart of Ontario, in Nogojiwanong (Peterborough)—but it was inspired by conversations happening in kitchens, cafés, farms, and city parks all across Canada.
Canadians are tired of the same old political choices. Tired of the extremes. Tired of being talked at instead of listened to. That’s why we created a new kind of political movement—one that puts people before partisanship, and progress before ideology.
We are a grassroots, centrist party that believes government should be a tool for empowerment, stability, and shared prosperity. We believe that good ideas can come from anywhere, and that responsible leadership should serve the many—not just the well-connected few.
What We Value
-
Pragmatism over Partisanship
We value common-sense solutions rooted in facts, lived experience, and collaboration—not ideology. We believe politics should serve people, not parties.
-
Proudly Canadian with Honest Accountability
We believe in Canada—not as a perfect nation, but as one worth improving. We celebrate what makes this country strong while confronting our past and present with honesty, humility, and the resolve to do better.goes here
-
Fiscal Responsibility with Compassion
We believe in careful, transparent spending of public funds while ensuring that no one is left behind—especially rural communities, low-income families, Indigenous peoples, seniors, and those living with disabilities or mental health challenges. A strong economy and a strong social fabric are not mutually exclusive. They depend on each other.
-
Social Progress and Human Dignity
We support equal rights, inclusion, and opportunity for all. Protecting civil liberties and expanding access to health care, education, and housing are essential for a just society.
-
Transparent Government
We believe in transparent governance, proportional representation, independent ethics oversight, and increased citizen engagement. The system should work for voters, not insiders.
-
Empowered Communities
Canada is strongest when decisions reflect local voices. We champion local control, regional diversity, and grassroots problem-solving.
-
Sustainable Development for a Stronger Canada
We believe climate action and responsible resource development must go hand-in-hand. Canada’s natural wealth—forests, minerals, energy, and water—is a national strength, but it comes with responsibility. We support development that is environmentally sustainable, economically sound, and rooted in respect for local communities.
That includes a clear duty to consult, uphold, and honour the sovereignty and treaty rights of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. Our path forward must be shaped not just by innovation and conservation—but by partnership, accountability, and reconciliation.

Why We Are Different
We’re not a protest party or a personality cult. We’re practical, grassroots, and Canadian to the core. We’re not trying to win the culture war—we’re trying to make life more affordable, stable, and fair.
We aren’t funded by corporate lobbies or special interests—we’re built by volunteers, neighbours, and everyday citizens who want their voices heard again.
We don’t pretend to have all the answers. But we know how to listen. And we know how to build solutions that work.
Whether you live in a small town in Saskatchewan, a neighbourhood in Halifax, the suburbs of Vancouver, or the downtown core of Winnipeg—we’re building a modern, pragmatic, inclusive alternative that’s ready to deliver results.
If you're looking for leadership that’s calm, capable, and focused on what really matters to Canadians, you’ve found your place in the Modern Commons.
Let’s build a Canada where everyone has the chance to succeed, and no one is left behind.
