New National Party Launches After Landmark Federal Election: The Modern Commons Party of Canada
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Canada - May 2025 – Following one of the most pivotal federal elections in Canadian history, a new political movement has emerged: the Modern Commons Party of Canada. Officially launched this week, the party offers a practical, inclusive alternative to the polarization dominating national politics.
Founded in Peterborough and built through national collaboration, the Modern Commons Party champions a vision of Canada rooted in equity, sustainability, and common purpose.
“We made a deliberate decision not to enter the 2025 race at the last minute,” said Jack Henry, Interim Leader of the Modern Commons Party. “The election was too important for rushed politics. Instead, we chose to prepare, listen, and build something Canadians can believe in.”
The party’s draft platform features forward-thinking policies on housing, health care (including dental, mental health, and pharmacare), climate action, and Indigenous-led reconciliation. It pledges to reimagine government with transparency, evidence, and compassion.
Core values include:
Forward Thinking – Long-term planning, not reactionary policies.
Common Ground – A shared space for civic engagement and respectful debate.
Grassroots Empowerment – Bottom-up candidate development and policy making.
Though not yet registered with Elections Canada, the Modern Commons Party is actively seeking founding members, volunteers, and prospective candidates across the country. The goal is to register officially and field candidates in the next general election.
“Canadians deserve a better political home—one that respects their intelligence and hopes,” said Henry. “Modern Commons is for those who want to move forward together, not be pulled apart.”
