Modern Commons Party Statement on the CN Tower Lockout

The Modern Commons Party stands with the workers at the CN Tower who are facing a lockout by their employer, Canada Lands Company. Every worker deserves fair wages, respect on the job, and a voice at the bargaining table—whether they work in tourism, transportation, or any other sector.

As a federally owned landmark, the CN Tower should set an example for how Canadian workers are treated. Lockouts only harm families, communities, and the reputation of our national institutions.

Our leader, Jack Henry, worked in guest services at the CN Tower in the past and understands the hard work that goes into making it a world-class destination. Though his former department is not part of the current dispute, the principle is the same: workers deserve fairness and respect.

We call on Canada Lands Company to return to negotiations and work in good faith toward a fair deal. Strong, respectful workplaces are the foundation of a stronger, more inclusive economy for all Canadians.
