Honouring the 81st Anniversary of D-Day

Eighty-one years ago, over 14,000 Canadians stormed the beaches of Normandy alongside our allies in the largest amphibious assault in history. D-Day was a pivotal moment in the fight against fascism—an operation that marked the beginning of the end of the Second World War and a defining moment in Canada's proud military legacy.

The courage and sacrifice of those who served on June 6, 1944, remind us of the cost of freedom and the importance of defending democratic values—not only in times of war, but in the everyday decisions we make as a country.

As we face new global uncertainties, rising authoritarian rhetoric, and increasing political polarization, we must remember what our ancestors fought for: a free, fair, and inclusive society.

“The Canadians who landed on Juno Beach 81 years ago weren’t fighting for partisan advantage. They were fighting to push back fascism, defend democracy, and build a better world. We honour them best not just with ceremonies, but by living up to their example—in how we lead, how we listen, and how we govern.”
Jack Henry, Interim Leader, Modern Commons Party

Let us honour their legacy by recommitting ourselves to unity, integrity, and responsible leadership—for Canada, and for all who call it home.
